Eight Trigram Mountains Buddha Landscape – Changhua

From Taipei to Changhua, take the fast train HSR from Taipei Main Station until Taishung train station (1h30) and then the train from Taishung station (xinwuri) to Changhua (10 min).

From the train station to the Eight Trigram Mountains Buddha Landscape, it will take around half an hour.

To find the way up to the mountain is pretty easy.

When you arrive you will have a really wide view of the city. As you can see on the picture, the boundary between the city and the nature is really fascinating.

After the climbing you will discover the impressive 22-meter high Great Buddha Baguashan. You can even go inside to learn the story of how Sakyamuni achieved Buddhahood.

When the Great Buddha was built, it was the largest statue of the Buddha in Southeast Asia and was listed as one of the eight major attractions of Taiwan.

In 2002, the Great Buddha was registered as a historic statue.

Apparently this area is a very popular tourist destination, but when we went there, we were luckily the only visitors.

Appart from the Great Buddha, there is a lot of beautiful architecture to see.

Mt. Bagua Buddha Temple, the Bagua Tower, a lot of funny sculptures, a garden, a lot of big catfishes …
